Razvan is a UK-based garden designer, writer and lecturer. He grew up in Transylvania in a town surrounded by vast woodlands and species-rich wildlife meadows, a fact that has influenced the way he designs and maintains gardens. He will take us all on a journey into the amazing diversity of foliage, the wide variety of shapes, sizes, colours and textures, and then give examples of how foliage plants can be used to great effect in our gardens. At the end of his talk, Razvan will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The cost will be £3 per person for HPS members and £5 per person for non-members. To book and/or to be added to our monthly distribution list for updates on our programme, please send an email asap to monmouthshirehps@gmail.com

The booking form for trips in 2022 is now on the programme page here. Additionally the January newsletter is also available to download on the Newsletters page here.

Co-founder of the HPS Somerset Group, Sally Gregson trained professionally at Hadlow College and ran Mill Cottage Plants in Wookey, Somerset, for 20 years. Together with Bill Hodgson, she created the video on fern propagation for the Somerset Group (see ‘Videos’ on this website). This talk is a purely practical explanation and demonstration of how to make more from your garden, including some ‘tricks of the trade’. As the author of ‘Practical Propagation’ (2008), Sally is also supremely well placed to answer any questions from the audience.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Neil Lovesey, late of Pickett Lane Nursery, will be held at Misterton Village Hall, Unity Lane, Misterton, TA18 8NA on 7 May at 1pm. Members of garden clubs and organisations that knew Neil are invited. There will be a buffet lunch and for catering purposes individuals who would like to attend should contact Frankie Lovesey directly to let her know their intentions. Tel: 01460 271519 or 07726 270934 email: franceslovesey@gmail.com.

The Early Spring Plant Fair at Yeo Valley Organic Garden on 26 March is now fully booked. Please do not come to the garden on Saturday if you haven’t already booked your parking space / permit as we have no more parking spaces.
Sadly Carol Clements died on the 11th of March, the funeral is to be held in Taunton Crematorium on Wednesday 30th March at 1.30 pm.
Request no flowers please
Best wishes

Less than two weeks to go until our Early Spring Plant Fair at Yeo Valley Organic Garden on 26 March 2022! Tickets have now largely sold out, but there are still some available for 2.00pm arrival only. However as the garden and cafe will be open until 4.00pm that should still give you plenty of time to purchase some plants for your garden and have a look around so get your tickets while you can (don’t forget your parking permit). The link appears under the poster on the website home page.
Here is a complete list of the nurseries coming to the Fair:
Hope that everyone is able to come away with bags full of new treasures!
Many thanks
Jane
Sadly, one of our favourite nurseries and a loyal supporter of the Group’s events, Picket Lane Nursery, is closing with immediate effect. The nursery is holding a closing down sale on the 26th of March, with big reductions on lots of plants. If you weren’t able to get tickets for our plant fair, you might want to pay the nursery a visit. The sale is taking place at the nursery at Picket Lane, South Perrott, DT8 5HU from 10.00am to 5.00pm

The Appley Garden Club have some seats still available on their mini-coach going to Malvern on the 6th of May. I don’t have the times yet, but they are leaving from Appley (near Wellington) and could make a pick-up at Taunton. The charge is £50 per person to include entry ticket and coach.
